A lot of motorcycle building for me is learning to lean on other skills. You know, improvisation. I have learned not to get intimidated by challenges that crop up on the road to making things that previously only existed in my head. I gained this knowledge from living and having a career in advertising as well as the other daily shit we all face. Trust me, that guy that cut you off on your way to work? He is teaching you something, you just can’t see it yet….yeah, maybe not him on second thought.

A lot of times for me it’s the challenge of needing a tool to fabricate what is in my head. The challenge on this tail section? There are some complex shapes that need to be formed. My solution is usually to look around the garage and improvise with what I have. Like the 1-inch pipe I am using here to form the little flipped-up lip on the back of the top of the tail section. Call it a leap of faith mixed with the knowledge that mistakes are learning opportunities.
